Oxford American Kentucky Music Issue

The Kentucky Music issue of the Oxford American came out on Nov. 22. I have an article in the magazine called “A Peculiar Composition.” It deals with the influence of African American music on the composition of “Happy Birthday to You.” I’m proud of the way it turned out and Ashlie Stevens did an excellent piece on WFPL about the issue and my article. The cd that comes with the magazine is great too. It has King Kong, Will Oldham and Joan Shelly on it.
